The PREMIER program centers around individual skill, fitness, and positive character words. Each session provides an opportunity for kids to be challenged through fun games and team competitions, and prepares children for future competitive team play.
Five and six year olds enjoy playing with others, and at this age friends are becoming increasingly important to them. They are growing more independent but still feel most secure with structure and routine. Children this age understand the concept of winning and losing, and crave praise and attention. Our coaches will incorporate these traits, more advanced soccer skills and tactical elements of the game, and some imaginative concepts, as well as provide lots of praise and positive reinforcement. The focus will be on developing advanced soccer skills (dribbling, passing, field vision, and soccer moves) as well as continuing to hone gross motor skills (controlled running, skipping, hopping on one foot, alternating feet). At this age, children should not use their hands unless they are playing goalie or learning about throw-ins.
This age group will scrimmage almost every week, for a significant amount of time. Classes run between 45-55 minutes.
